The picture — well what’s there to say. It looks great. If you’re super super nit-picky then you may notice some blooming in dark scenes with white lettering or high contrast. But the deep black level makes up for it. And at this point in time, LEDs are not as small as a pixel - will they ever be? The screen is quite shiny, which causes some reflections during the day.

I don’t notice the off-center difference that much as my viewing area is fairly narrow. And by default it comes with auto motion turned on which I personally detest. It makes film look like video. I turned it off for all inputs. I DO like the cinema look and I believe it comes pretty darn close to the settings you’d achieve using a calibration tool like Avia. I have not done this yet, so this is just a guess, but it looks good for a preset!

I hooked up the ethernet cable and the instant weather and news is nice, but the picture slideshow coming from my desktop (this needs software that runs a ’server’) doesn’t display my 12 megapixel images large enough. They look like tiny thumbnails. The TV is supposed to be capable of much larger images. What gives?

However, those are little annoyances at features. The picture quality is amazing with HDTV and with a bluray player viewing 1080p material. The input selection is huge and works great with my older non-upscaling dvd player and my older 5.1 receiver.

The primary differences between Samsung’s LNT4061F and the LNT4065F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. Customer Review: DO NOT BUY!! save money BUT waste YOUR time
i wish i would have read some of the more negative reviews before i purchased my real expensive paper weight, like other customers here i did my research, went to the stores, and finally decided to purchase the TV on april, a month later my HELL started! first the TV started to turn itself off and on, called samsung, they sent a repairman and he “fixed it” (changed the power source)…

3 weeks later AGAIN!! same issues TV would turn itself off and it would make clicking noises as if it was trying to turn itself on again…once again called samsung and by this time my patience was really wearing out, i just couldn’t believe that this could be happening to me, my brand new TV stopped working during a pay per view fight that i had invited all my friends over to watch at my house…i politely asked samsung about exchanging the TV for another one obviously this one was a “lemon.” They refused and told me that it was up to the technician to determine when it was “unrepairable” so i had no choice but to wait TWO WEEKS!! without TV and with my pride on the floor after i had to basically tell my friends im sorry and they ended up going to a bar to watch the fight. (i was too depressed to go)

2 weeks after the repairman came and “fixed” it everything seemed fine…THEN TAMPA BAY goes to the world series for the first time ever!
it had been quite a few months so i thought the problem was finally fixed, NOT SO MUCH!! in the middle of game 2 ONCE AGAIN! my TV fails me, this time the screen is totally black but now i can hear audio, called samsung (wooo hoo!) and now i really asked about changing this TV which is obviously broken, they gave me the same run around and were actually totally rude to me, telling me things such as “sorry we cant help you” isnt that what customer service is for? to help you?!!

Now they told me that this is the last time they will attempt to fix it, and that if it does break again that they will change it, i called the repair shop, (where i already know the guys on a first name basis) and the told me that this time they will be changing the WHOLE panel, basically the whole TV, but that after this there is nothing they could change. i been waiting a week now for the part to arrive so they can come and repair it and im still WITHOUT MY TV!!

Lesson Learned: NEVER again will i make a purchase on amazon for an electronic of such value, i would much rather go get one of the local stores where i know that even if the TV breaks i will deal with it personally and they will exchange it, and even though i saved $300 through amazon ITS NOT WORTH IT!!

stick to selling books and small articles please, that i will buy.
Customer Review: Samsung LNT4061F…AWESOME!
I have had this TV for about 8 months now and could not be happier. When I started looking around I wanted the best quality for the least amount of money. I looked at several stores (best buy, circuit city, etc) and not one could even come close to the awesome price that amazon has, not to mention the free shipping! At the time of purchase I paid $400 less on amazon than I would have in the store. The only complaint I have is the volume when watching HD vs non HD channels. It seems that I have to turn the volume up pretty high to get the same sound quality. The picture quality and color is the best. I can’t wait to get the blu-ray home theater to go with it!

The HD channels are great. However, like other plasma’s, the non-HD channels are average at best.
Customer Review: Phenomenal TV
I researched TVs for a year. Picked up the 5084 on the 4th of July and it’s a winner. I saw it next to the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U and the Panasonic 50PZ80U. I set all 3 TVs to movie mode and liked the Samsung better. Here is how I arrived at this decision.

1. First I got the plasma vs. lcd choice out of the way by appreciating that plasmas still do better blacks and deeper color. My wife and I watch 90% of time at night. This is where plasmas excel.

2. I narrowed down the plasmas to the pioneer 5080, Panasonic 50pz85u, and 50PZ800U.
At the time, the Samsung 5084 wasn’t even in the running. As I spent time watching the Panasonic 50pz85u I noticed noise in dark scenes even connected with a monster cable and a good line cleaner so I passed. I found that the pioneer even on sale was $600 more than the Samsung. The Panasonic 50PZ800U was $1000 more. Clearly these two TVs are superior with more goodies, but not life changing enough to justify the cost.

3. In the end what pushed me to the Samsung was the fact that it’s a “high end TV” from last year that was $1500.00 less than when it came out. I paid $1570. I would rather have an older high end TV than an newer low or medium end TV. While I’m at it Id rather pay a low end price for a high end TV.

4. This TV is still among the top ten on Cnet almost a year later with the same rating as it’s newer 2008 model: PN50A550

5. At the writing of this review all knows bugs have been worked out. Another reason to wait on an older high end model.

Pluses:
I have had the Samsung for a month now and it has performed flawlessly.
Good Standard Def picture. Excellent high def. Can’t comment on DVD picture because I am running my DVD player through an Onkyo 605 receiver that up converts the picture to 720p and it looks fabulous.

My wife loves the bezel (frame). This is what made the whole thing work for her. Plus setting up the room so that it looks like a display room.

Minuses:
You have to be careful how long you pause a picture as it will retain the image. I created a macro key on my Logitech remote (that a got at Amazon) called safe pause. When I press it, it pauses the picture and turns the TV off. If however you get picture retention, Samsung has excellent tools that act like window washers for your screen.

Some times I might watch TV during the day if I am off and the light coming in can be a drawback in dark scenes. This is easily remedied with $15 window blinds.

I am very happy I bought this TV and have no regrets. Get one before they disappear.

Customer Review: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
If you look at the new Sony XBR8 you will find all the features of the Samsung LN-T4681F imitated for three times the current price of the Samsung. Sony has not only copied the LED back lighting but they also elected to copy the bezel design of the Samsung LN-T4681F.

If you really want the true blacks that an LED back lit set provide the LN-T4681F is an incredible bargain at the current clearance price. While I have only had mine for a month everyone that has seen it has been stunned by the image quality. The ISF certified technician that did the final color calibration after burn-in commented that the 81F was the first LCD set to approach the image quality and black levels of the Pioneer Kuro plasma sets.

The icing on the cake is that the LED back lighting uses considerably less electricity than cold cathode LCD sets and much less than a Pioneer Kuro plasma and the LED’s should outlast the TV itself as well.

Customer Review: Outstanding picture reproduction … at ON-ANGLE viewing
Great TV with LED backlighting technology. Beautifully designed and executed by Samsung. I applaud their efforts. It’s a little surprise to me that off-angle viewing is so inferior to other Samsung LCD series, which used the old fluorescent backlighting. I recently bought two Samsung 7-series sets (52″ and 40″), and they look terrific at most viewing angles. For this 81F set, the picture is stunning at direct straight-on viewing, but contrast quickly degrades as viewing angle increases. If you have a viewing room or intend to set up the TV to have a narrow viewing angle, than shop no further–this TV is for you. But if you have a wide room, consider the other Samsung series. Overall, it’s an excellent TV.
